CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Their commitment to growing their own “superpowers” directly fuels student success across Team Duval. Join us in thanking our outstanding school counselors for the lasting difference they make in our schools and community!

I hope your day is going well!! I wanted to let everyone know that we had an unplanned fire drill today. We have two fire alarm sensors that malfunction causing the fire alarms to go off for about 8 minutes. Faculty, staff, and students did a phenomenal job evacuating to their assigned locations. It is always our priority to keep our faculty, staff, and students safe! I wanted to let you know in case your child comes home today and talks to you about it. Again, it was a sensor malfunction and no fire occurred. I hope everyone has a great rest of your day!

As we edge closer to Valentine's Day on Saturday, I want to please request that all stuffed animals, candy gifts, balloons, flowers, etc be given to your child on Valentine's Day, Saturday. Any aforementioned gifts brought or delivered to the school, will be held in the main office until dismissal so not to be an instructional distraction. Thank you so much! Have a great day!

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding today. At this time, maintenance is at school getting the heat up and running in all classrooms. By tomorrow, the heat should be fully running and all classrooms should be warm and comfortable. YAY! I will keep you posted if anything changes. I hope you have a great rest of your day!

Whenever anything impacts our school day, I will always keep you informed. Unfortunately, I am calling to make you aware that the school’s heating compressor unit is currently not functioning, and all classrooms are experiencing cooler temperatures as a result.
District Maintenance staff have been notified about the issue. In the meantime, students have been advised to keep their hats and coats on while we await the Maintenance team.
Parents and guardians who wish to pick up their students may do so immediately. Please report to the main office with your photo ID to sign your student out for the day. If you are unable to pick up your student, you may send one of the authorized adults listed in your student’s FOCUS account to sign them out.
For the students who remain at school, we will continue with our normal school schedule while we work to resolve this issue.
I understand that this unexpected situation may cause inconvenience for some families. Please know that the safety and well-being of your student is my top priority. As always, thank you for your understanding and support as we work to resolve this issue.
Please stand by for future updates regarding the heating system. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at the school.

Due to the extreme cold this morning, please take precautions to dress your child warmly as the feel-like temperature is currently 19 degrees. If, for whatever reason due to the extreme cold, you are not comfortable sending your child to school today, please reach out to their teacher and let them know. We will only be excusing students absences if you reach out to your child's teacher. It is always our goal to work together and make the best decisions for our kids. Please stay safe and warm!

Crystal Springs Elementary's January SAC meeting will take place on Thursday January 22, 2025, at 8:10am. All community stakeholders are encouraged to attend.

In case you aren't watching the weather, tonight into tomorrow morning is going to bring lows in the 20s through tomorrow morning. These are going to be the coldest temperatures in three years! Please make sure your kiddos are wearing the warmest clothes they have. If you are in need of warm clothes for your kids, please let us know so that we can look through our clothes closet and see what we may have. As usual, do not drop your children off before 8AM as it will be too cold and there is no supervision. Thank you and have a great day!

Good morning Crystal Springs Families!
I wanted to let you know that our emergency lockdown alarm was triggered this morning around 10:15 by accident. Our faculty, staff, and students did a phenomenal job doing exactly what we have practiced. I am so proud of everyone!!! Again, it was a false alarm, but I wanted to make everyone aware in case your child comes home today talking about it. Rest assured that everyone was safe and remains safe! Have a wonderful afternoon!
