The study of history is essential to preserving human dignity, justice, and democracy. The History Department’s varied course selections and graduation requirements reflect these goals. The creativity of our student body is a unique asset for teaching about the human community. Through a variety of teaching styles and techniques, students are given opportunities to exchange ideas and to learn the facts, concepts, and skills necessary to become effective citizens.
The Social Studies Curriculum includes:
10th grade – World History or Advanced Placement World History
11th grade – U.S. History or Advanced Placement U.S. History
12th grade – Economics, Economics Honors, or AP Micro-Economics (half-year class) and American Government, American Government Honors, or Advanced Placement American Government (half-year class)
