Welcome to Duncan U. Fletcher Middle School!

It is a true honor to welcome you to Fletcher Middle School. I am incredibly proud to be a part of a school community that values academic excellence, meaningful relationships, and the growth and success of every student.

As I begin my sixth year as part of the Fletcher Middle School family—and my first as Principal—I am excited to continue working alongside our outstanding students, talented staff, supportive families, and the wonderful beaches community. I look forward to a school year filled with learning, connection, and memorable experiences for everyone.

Our theme this year is "Giving the Gift of Greatness." We are committed to helping every student discover and achieve their full potential through meaningful daily interactions, a positive and supportive school culture, and high-quality, rigorous instruction.

Mercedes Galvez 

Ms. Galvez is a Jacksonville native and graduate of Duval County Public Schools. She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Florida—Go Gators! With more than 15 years of experience in education, she has had the privilege of serving students and families throughout Jacksonville as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, Dean of Discipline, and Assistant Principal of Curriculum.

Outside of school, Ms. Galvez is a devoted wife and mother who enjoys spending time at the beach, making memories with her family, and relaxing with her two lovable labrador retrievers.
