Dear Greenfield Families,

Thank you for helping us have a wonderful start to the 2026–2027 school year! 💚💙

This is a friendly reminder that yesterday was the final day for parents and guardians to walk students to their classrooms. Beginning today, in accordance with our school safety policies and procedures, students will enter the building independently and report to their classrooms.

Please be assured that Greenfield staff members will be stationed throughout the building to welcome, guide, and assist students as needed. This procedure helps us maintain a safe and secure campus while also helping our students build confidence and independence in their daily routines.

Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and continued partnership as we keep Greenfield Rooted in Kindness and Growing in Excellence! 🌳

Dear Greenfield Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to welcome our students back to Greenfield Elementary, where we are “Rooted in Kindness, Growing in Excellence!” We are beginning this year with tremendous momentum and an enrollment of approximately 600 students! We are grateful that so many families have chosen Greenfield, and we look forward to an amazing year of learning, growth, STEM innovation, and excellence.

As we prepare to welcome our students, safety remains one of our highest priorities. With a Greenfield family of nearly 600 students, it is especially important that we work together and follow our established arrival and dismissal procedures. Please review these important reminders:

🌱 ARRIVAL — School Opens at 8:00 AM

Our doors will open to receive students at 8:00 AM. Students may not be dropped off or left on campus before 8:00 AM unless they are enrolled in our Before Care Program. Prior to 8:00 AM, we do not have adequate personnel available to safely supervise students.

For families who need supervision before 8:00 AM, Before Care is available for $100 per month.

💙 FIRST TWO DAYS — Walking Students to Class

We understand that the beginning of a new school year is an exciting transition, especially for our youngest Dolphins and students who are new to Greenfield. Therefore, parents and guardians will be permitted to walk their students to their classrooms during the first two days of school only.

Beginning on the third day of school, we ask that parents say their goodbyes at the designated entrance and allow our staff to assist students with getting safely to their classrooms. This will help our students establish their morning routines, build independence, and allow us to maintain a safe and orderly arrival for our entire school.

Please know that there will be Greenfield staff members stationed throughout the campus to welcome, guide, and assist students as they learn their new routines.

🌳 FIRST-DAY ARRIVAL — Please Pack Your Patience!

We know the first day of school is special! Families are excited, students may be nervous, and everyone wants to make sure their child gets off to a wonderful start. Because many families will want to personally drop off their children, arrival will be significantly busier than usual.

Please give yourself additional time, follow the directions of our staff, and extend patience and kindness to one another. We are all working toward the same goal—getting nearly 600 students safely into school and ready for a great day of learning!

🌿 DISMISSAL — Begins at 2:50 PM

Dismissal will begin at 2:50 PM. Please make sure your child's teacher knows your student's correct and regular mode of transportation.

Early dismissal/check-out will not be permitted after 2:15 PM. This allows our staff to prepare for the safe and orderly dismissal of nearly 600 students. If your child must leave early for an appointment or other necessary reason, please plan to arrive before 2:15 PM to complete the check-out process.

🚗 CAR RIDERS — Please Remain in Your Vehicle

For the safety of our students, families, and staff, please do not park behind the school and walk onto campus to pick up your child. This is a serious safety concern because cars and buses are traveling back and forth along this roadway during dismissal.

If your child is a car rider, please remain in the car-rider line and stay in your vehicle. Our staff will safely bring students to the designated loading area.

We especially ask for your patience during the first week of school. Car-rider dismissal will likely take longer as students and families learn our procedures and we implement our new safety protocols. Additionally, our after-school program will not begin until the second week of school, which means we anticipate a larger number of car riders during the first week.

Our goal is not simply to dismiss students quickly—our goal is to dismiss every student safely, securely, and to the correct person. As our students, families, and staff become familiar with the procedures, the process will become increasingly efficient.

Greenfield Family, we are ready and excited for an incredible year! Thank you in advance for your support, positivity, understanding, cooperation, and patience as we begin this journey together. When our families and staff work together, we create the safe, secure, inclusive, and welcoming school environment our children deserve.

600 students. One Greenfield Family. One commitment to safety and excellence. 💚💙

We are Rooted in Kindness, and together, we are Growing in Excellence! 🌳

Greetings Greenfield Families, Thank you for your patience and assistance as we work through dismissal challenges that come with the start of a new school year. Please take note of these dismissal procedures: 1. Instruction does not end until 2:50 at which time our teachers prepare students to go home. 2. If you need to pick your child up early, you must do so by 2:15 per DCPS policy. 3. If you need to change how your child will be dismissed, you must notify us in writing or in the Pik My Kid App by 1:00. This allows us time to communicate your wishes to the teacher. 4. If your child is dismissed at one of the walkers’ gates, you must be at the gate by 3:10. All students who have not been picked up will be taken to the office and this will delay your departure. 5. Car riders must be picked up no later than 3:30. You must drive through the line and provide your child’s tag number. If you do not have a tag, please stop by the office to get one. Please do not walk up to the car line. 6. Students in Team Up may not be picked up before 4:30 and no later than 6:00. Thank you for adhering to these guidelines. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your child’s teacher or the main office. Have a great day!
