It's College Week!!!

Dear Parents,
As we embrace the beauty of fall, we hope that everyone stayed safe as we weathered Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts have been with each of you during this time, and we are grateful for the resilience and strength of our community.
Important Reminders
World’s Famous Chocolate Fundraiser: Please remember to submit your fundraiser monies. Let your child’s homeroom teacher know when you send the money so they can collect it and turn it into the front office.
Attendance Matters: If your child has already missed 35% of school or has been excessively tardy, you should have received a phone call and email from the principal. We expect to see our scholars in school every day, on time, and through the entire day unless they are ill. Parents, it is your responsibility to make attendance a BIG DEAL.
Report Cards:
Report cards go home October 21st. The last day of the grading period is October 11th. Now is the time to check your child's grades on FOCUS and reach to your child's homeroom teacher to ensure your child's success for the first nine weeks.

Flyer Peace By Chocolate - A Refugee Film Screening and Free Food Distribution

Greetings,
I have two requests for you:
Please use Monaco Drive for school drop-off and pick-up. Refer to the attached map. Do not turn onto Mayan or use any neighbors’ driveways or grass to turn around.
Make attendance a priority. Too many of our Hawk scholars are missing too many days.
Thank you
Principal Graham

September 8, 2024
Happy Day, Hawks Family!
Have you ever wondered how you can stay more connected with your child’s education?
This week, we’re rolling out the red carpet to highlight the benefits of having a DCPS Parent Account. With this account, you can easily access your child’s grades, attendance records, and important school updates all in one place. It’s a fantastic way to stay informed and involved in your child’s academic journey. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be more engaged in their education!
Please see this week’s “News You Can Use” for an exciting week ahead as we spotlight the amazing activities and events happening at our school!
Important Reminders:
🚫 No Student Drop-Off Before 8 AM: For the safety of our students, please ensure they are not dropped off before 8 AM.
📱 Create Your Parent Focus Account Today:
Follow the step-by-step guide here to set up your account and stay connected. You cannot access Duval Rooms, Register for Transportation, PikMyKid, Register for School choice etc. if you do not have a parent focus account - We need 100% of our Highlands Estates Parents to have an account - Click here to create your parent focus account.
🚗Car Rider Pick up begins at 2:50 if you arrived after 3:15 pm you will have to come into the front and sign your child out. Please be on time. Do not for any reason drive thru the bus loop during dismissal. The car rider line is much faster I promise 😊
📲 Download the PikMyKid App: This app allows you to notify us when you are in line to pick up your student during dismissal. You must have a parent focus account to link your child to PikMyKid.
Walker Reminders:
⏰ Be On Time: If your K-5 grade child is listed as a walker, it is VITAL to be at the walkers’ gate (Gate 1 or 2) on time. We will not escort students back into the school.
✍️ Dismissal Changes: Must be done in writing. We will not take a student’s word for their dismissal.
Attendance Matters:
🏫 Attendance is a Priority: Ensure your child is in school every day, on time, and stays through the entire school day.
📚 Read Daily: Spend at least 20 minutes reading with your child each day.
School Success:
🎯 Our Goal: We are committed to increasing our school grade. EVERY parent, teacher, admin, staff, and student MUST do their PART to ensure our school’s success.
School Grade Goal: C or Higher
Attendance Goal: 92% Average Daily Attendance rate
🌟 Aim for Excellence: We aim to be an A school, which requires A+ actions from everyone. Model what you expect, and expect what you model.
Save the Dates:
📅 September 9: World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser has begun. Please support!!
📅 September 13: Progress Reports go Home. If you have concerns about your child’s progress speak directly to your child’s teacher.
Let’s work together to make this school year a blockbuster success! 🎬📚
