teachers engage in a multisensory instruction training using hands-on learning materials

On April 30, 2025, teachers at Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center participated in a dynamic and hands-on professional development session titled Multisensory Instruction in Science. The training was facilitated by Dr. Melissa Call and Mr. Matthew Take from the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FLDRS).

This engaging session allowed staff to explore a variety of tools and strategies designed to support  students through multisensory learning. Participants walked around stations, experimented with tactile materials, and learned innovative ways to bring lessons to life using sight, sound, touch, and movement.

This training is one of several impactful sessions FLDRS has conducted at Mt. Herman including Sensory Island, Multisensory Literacy, Multisensory Math, and Assistive Technology in the classroom.

We are grateful to Dr. Call and Mr. Take for their continued partnership and for equipping our educators with strategies to better support all learners.
