CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Their commitment to growing their own “superpowers” directly fuels student success across Team Duval. Join us in thanking our outstanding school counselors for the lasting difference they make in our schools and community!

Last spring, the School Board approved a plan for Hyde Grove Elementary to close beginning in the 2026-27 school year. We understand that news like this can bring a mix of emotions, and we want to assure you that supporting our students and families during this transition is our highest priority.
Based on updated boundaries for Westside Elementary schools, your child may be zoned for Hyde Park Elementary or Ramona Boulevard Elementary next school year. Specific information about your child’s new school assignment will be available in mid-November, and we will provide guidance to help you locate your child’s assigned school at that time.
In the meantime, we encourage you to attend the School Enrollment Expo on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. The Expo is a great opportunity to:
• Learn more about the upcoming transition and what to expect.
• Explore other educational options for your child across Duval County Public Schools.
• Meet district staff who can answer questions and provide guidance on enrollment.
We are committed to keeping you informed and supported throughout this process, and we thank you for your continued partnership as we plan for a smooth transition.
Warm regards,
Principal Green
