Leadership in Action

For nearly two decades, Julia Landon has proudly developed a tradition of Student Ambassadors - students recognized by their peers, teachers, and school leadership as positive representatives of the Landon community.

Student Ambassadors demonstrate leadership throughout the school day. They serve as role models for their peers, take pride in their school and education, and strive to do what is right - not for recognition, but because it is the right thing to do.

REPRESENTING LANDON

Student Ambassadors serve as representatives of Julia Landon to prospective students, families, and the greater community. They help families learn about the programs and opportunities available at Landon and share, from a student's perspective, what makes the Landon experience unique.

Ambassadors may also be called upon throughout the year to welcome guests, speak with students and families, assist with school events, and represent Julia Landon in the community.

BECOMING A STUDENT AMBASSADOR

The Student Ambassador Program is a yearlong leadership commitment open to 7th and 8th grade students. Ambassadors are selected to represent the Landon student body and are expected to model the leadership, character, and school pride associated with the program.

AMBASSADOR EXPECTATIONS

ACADEMICS
Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout the school year.

CHARACTER
Demonstrate respect, academic integrity, positive behavior, and serve as a role model for the Landon community.

COMMITMENT
Participate in required Ambassador events, including magnet tours and other opportunities to represent Landon.

REPRESENTATION
Be prepared to welcome prospective families, speak about the Landon experience, and represent the school with confidence and professionalism.

HOW STUDENTS ARE SELECTED

Interested students complete an application process that includes

  • a written leadership essay

  • two teacher recommendations.

New applicants are asked to describe the qualities that would make them an exceptional student leader, while returning Ambassadors reflect on their leadership growth and goals for the year.

Representing the student body at school and community events.

Helping future Lions feel comfortable and connected before their first day.

05 - HENDRICKS AVENUE ELEMENTARY FIELD DAY

Serving as student leaders within our local community.

06 - SUMMER ORIENTATION

Welcoming incoming students and helping them begin their Landon experience.

LEADERSHIP BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

The Student Ambassador program gives students an opportunity to put Landon's leadership principles into practice through service, communication, responsibility, and school pride.
