Dear parents and guardians,
Happy Sunday Patriots! Look out for 4th quarter progress reports this week. I want to remind everyone that if a cadet does not pass his or her core classes, they must retake them to promote to the next grade level. 8th graders who fail (Math, Sci, SS or ELA) will be required to come to summer school and pass the class to start high school in the fall. For 6th and 7th graders, you will be rescheduled into the failed class next school year if possible. This means, your cadet will have to give up an elective or PE class to retake the failed class. If a 6th or 7th grader fails two or more core classes, they will be retained in the same grade. If an 8th grader fails 1 or 2 courses, they will be scheduled into summer school. If they fail 3 or more, they will be retained in the 8th grade for another year.
Science Fair Club in Team Up is open to all students, both in and outside of Team Up. Students who are interested in joining will work on science projects Monday through Thursday from 3:45 PM–5:00 PM. The Science Fair will be held at Westside Middle School on May 16 at 9:00 AM. Team Up will be purchasing tri-fold boards for students.
Jackets – Starting on May 1, cadet jackets will no longer be worn in the halls, common areas and formation. No Jackets starting May 1st. While we are certainly sympathetic to some of the colder classrooms, cadets can wear the uniform jacket at the teacher’s discretion. We ask that they are removed at all other times. While jackets are intended for wear in cold or cooler weather, many cadets wear them for other reasons: hide their phones, food and snacks, prohibited items and more popularly, to avoid tucking in their shirt. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Summer Camp - As we are near the end of the school year, we are also in the beginning stages of planning for the summer. Our summer camp program is scheduled to run from June 8 through July 17, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It is a free summer program. I am attaching two flyers: one for rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders and one for our rising 9th graders.
