Congratulations to Ms. Limon, a first-grade teacher at Lone Star Elementary for winning the Literacy Week contest that was hosted by DCPS. Ms. Limon stated, "when we were tasked with the Literacy Week bulletin board contest and the theme "American symbols", I knew by taking a hands-on approach, the students would retain all great literature we read. So, we started the week by reading about all types of American symbols, and then even more about the Statue of Liberty. By the end of the week, we became the Statue of Liberty, with the robe, torch, and tablet. Now, my class has a great understanding of the Statue of Liberty, what it stands for, and some fun facts about it! The students became the American symbol and made our award-winning bulletin board what it is! Thank you and congratulations to my awesome lemons!

Congratulations Ms. Limon!
