Today, our San Mateo Elementary Lions gathered for a special 9/11 Flag Raising Ceremony to honor the lives lost, recognize the bravery of our first responders, and remember the strength and unity our country showed on September 11, 2001.

May we continue to teach our students the importance of kindness, courage, service, and standing together as a community. ❤️🤍💙

Our young readers worked together to explore animal habitats! 🐾📚 Through teamwork and meaningful discussion, students in Ms. Adams’ 2nd grade class shared ideas and deepened their understanding of where animals live and thrive

🎶 Calling all SME musicians! 🎶 Our SME Music Club begins Tuesday, October 6! Students will explore rhythmic notation, bucket drumming, choral singing, piano, drums, and music recording. Meetings will be held every Tuesday from 3:30–4:30 PM in Studio 25. We can’t wait to make music together! 🎵💙💛

PBIS, or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, is a school-wide approach that helps us teach, recognize, and celebrate positive student behavior. At SME, we focus on setting clear expectations, recognizing our Lions for making positive choices, and creating a safe, welcoming environment where every student can learn and succeed.

Duval County voters will once again have the opportunity to consider the 1 Mill Ad Valorem funding that supports our public schools. Originally approved in 2022, these funds help support teacher compensation, school safety and support staff, academic programs, arts, athletics, and student activities.

The 1 Mill must be renewed by voters every four years in order for the funding to continue. We encourage our San Mateo families and community members to learn about what’s on the ballot and make an informed decision.
