For today's black history fact, we explore the life of Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller who, during the peak of the Harlem Renaissance, was a poet, artists, and designer who expressed a deep love and pride for Afrocentrism in her work. She used her art to depict the horrors faced by the black community and the complexities of religion, identity, and nature. She was born on June 9th, 1877, into a family with considerable influence in the black community as members of the time periods rapidly growing middle class. She spent her life speaking out against injustice and passing on knowledge to other young artists.
