Hello Venetia Elementary Families,

There are two very important updates about the future of our school I would like to share with you.

First, I am excited to share that the construction of a brand-new Venetia Elementary school will soon begin as part of the district’s Master Facility Plan. Our new school is scheduled to open August 2028. This new building will be on the same school site, and construction will begin this summer.

Second, while the new school is being constructed, Venetia Elementary will hold school in the current Hyde Grove Elementary School building (2056 Lane Ave. S., Jacksonville, FL 32210). That means beginning in August 2026, students enrolled in Venetia will report to the Hyde Grove building for school. Students enrolled in Hyde Grove will attend school at Hyde Park beginning in August 2026.

I know there may be many questions – including about transportation – that many of you may have, and I want to assure you of two things:

1. We will be working with the school district to keep you as informed as possible during this transition period. This email is the first in a series of communications to help ensure a seamless transition.
2. Even as we get ready to transition, please know that our highest priority remains the academic success of our students, and we are focused on finishing the 2025-26 school year strong!

Continue to stay connected by staying up to date on Rooms as well as Focus by checking grades. Please continue to make attendance a priority each day and keeping students in school for the full day. Every instructional minute counts!

Attention Venetia Parents! Bus 901 was in an accident on site. No students were on the bus. They are sending another bus to transport them home but there is no ETA. You are welcomed to come pick up the students. Thanks!

Good Evening Venetia Families,
We have entered the last week of Quarter 2. Friday is the final day of the quarter. We are continuing with our Holiday Calendar dress up days through Friday.

Our partners Furyk & Friends have donated Hope for the Holiday Meal Bags for each student. Bags will be sent home tomorrow-Tuesday, Dec 16th. We are asking all kindergarten parents to pick up the bags as they are heavy to tote and carry. 🎄🎁🍴

3rd-5th Grade will take their District Science Assessment tomorrow-Tuesday, December 16th. Please ensure students are well rested, present and on time. 🔬🧪🔍

Class Party Day is on Wednesday, December 17th. Your child's teacher should have mentioned what is needed for their Class Party. Teachers have planned fun activities for this day and students are looking forward to participating. 🥳🎉

We will have our Teacher & Staff Luncheon on Friday, December 19th. We are asking for Dessert Donations for the teachers and staff. 🍩🍰🧁🍪

Winter Break starts on Monday, December 22nd - Tuesday, January 6th. Students will return to school on Wednesday, January 7th.

We are just ten days from the end of Quarter 2. Please ensure that students are present and on time. ✅⏰ We have our STATE FAST Progress Monitoring Test for mid-year this month for all grade levels. 3rd-5th Grade will start testing this week and K-2nd will continue with math testing.

Please ensure that students are well rested and in school to avoid having to participate in make up testing. Students do best when they test on their original date with their classmates in their classroom environment!
