Good Afternoon Crown Point Families, This is Principal Hartley with your updates for the week of May 19th. We will be having award ceremonies for each grade level over the next two weeks for kindergarten through fifth grade. Parents and families are welcome to attend, but please know that you must bring an ID to be able to attend each ceremony. We also are asking that you refrain from bringing balloons and large signs. Here are the dates and times for each ceremony. Kindergarten awards will be Thursday, May 22nd beginning at 9:00 a.m. First grade awards will be Friday, May 23rd beginning at 10:15 a.m. Second grade awards will be Friday, May 23rd at 9:00 a.m. Third grade awards will be Tuesday, May 27th at 9:00 a.m. Fourth grade awards will be Tuesday, May 27th at 10:15 a.m. Fifth grade awards will be Wednesday, May 28th at 9:00 a.m. There is no school on Monday, May 26th due to it being Memorial Day. The last day of school this year is Friday, May 30th and dismissal will be at 12:00. There is no afternoon extended day on the last day of school. Good Afternoon Crown Point Families, This is Principal Hartley with your updates for the week of May 5th. This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. If you would like to send in a gift of appreciation for your child’s teacher, I know they would greatly enjoy it. This next message is for 5th grade parents and guardians specifically. As we prepare for our end-of-year 5th grade celebration, we are asking parents and guardians to submit two digital photographs of their children – one photo from kindergarten and one current photo from 5th grade. We ask that you send these photos to your child’s 5th grade teacher by Monday, May 19th. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend as we get ready for an incredible week.

Dismissal begins at 1:00. There will be no after-school tutoring this Wednesday due to it being an Early Dismissal Day. We will have Extended Day though. Come join us for some engaging activities, networking and light refreshments. -We're having our Spring Carnival this Friday, April 11th from 5pm to 7:30pm. The cost is $5 per person. Parents, please be aware that 3rd quarter report cards will be posted in Focus on March 31st. We will be sending paper copies of the report cards home as well. Please know that end-of-year report cards will only be posted in Focus. If you need a printed copy of the end-of-year report card, please feel free to come to the school over the summer to pick one up. If you have not already applied for your Focus account, please do so before the end of the year. We can help you in the main office if needed. Our next School Advisory Council meeting will be this Monday evening, March 31st at 5:30 in the media center. The SAC meeting will be immediately followed by a PTA meeting. This next message is from our incredible PTA: ”Thanks to all who attended the Ready Tech Go workshop last Tuesday evening. There was a wealth of information shared, networking and free laptops issued. The PTA still has laptops on hand and will be issuing more this week, closing out with the Cultural Arts event Thursday evening. The only requirement is that there is no personal laptop or tablet already in your household. If you’re interested and qualify, please leave your name and number with the front office for the PTA to contact you. The Spring Carnival is less than 2 weeks away on Friday, April 11th from 5pm to 7:30pm. To qualify, you must first register to attend the Ready Tech Go seminar at www.rb.gy/ditmlv. This registration information can also be found on the school's Facebook page and the flyers sent home before the break. This event takes place on Tuesday, March 25th from 6 to 7:30pm. There will be refreshments and additional prizes and giveaways. Check the qualifications page to see if your household meets the requirements. EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR - Congratulations to our 2025 School-Related Employee of the Year, Aya Linsner! A dedicated paraprofessional at Crown Point Elementary, Lisner goes above and beyond every day—serving as a bus and crosswalk monitor, assisting students with reading and math, and helping run the student positive behavior support store. Her kindness, commitment, and passion for student success make a lasting impact. As Principal Brett Hartley shared, “Everyone at Crown Point adores Ms. Linsner. She is so loving to our students that they can’t wait to work with her. These first few messages are from our incredible PTA: “Survey says, ‘Friday, April 11th from 5pm to 7:30pm’ is the most desired date and time for the carnival. There will be more details coming soon. On the evening of Tuesday, March 25th, we will be hosting the PTA Connected: Ready, Tech, Go! program. This is a collaboration between National PTA and AT&T designed to help families, parents and caregivers navigate the challenges of parenting in the digital age through meaningful peer-to-peer discussions about screen readiness and ways to promote healthy and responsible device use for all members of the family. More information about and registration for this event will be available this week." Spring Break this year is from Monday, March 17th through Friday, March 21st. Monday, March 24th is a teacher planning day so students will return to school from Spring Break on Tuesday, March 25th. Tomorrow, February 24th, we will be holding our annual Mid-Year Stakeholders Review to discuss the progress we have made as a school so far this year. The meeting will begin at 5:30 and will be immediately followed by our monthly School Advisory Council meeting. All are welcome to attend these meetings that will be held in our media center. These next few messages are from our incredible PTA: “Our next General Meeting is tomorrow at 6pm following the SAC meeting. There we will discuss our plans for the rest of the school year and announce the Mommy & Me Breakfast raffle winner. Refreshments will be provided. Parents, we need your input! We're planning to have a School Carnival in April but we want to know the best day and time for it. Please let us know the best option for you by completing the online survey. This survey will be posted on the PTA's Instagram page, the school's Facebook page and the DCPS app. Responses will be collected until 11:59pm on Friday, February 28th.” This Tuesday is Spring and Class Picture Day. Students who have had pictures pre-ordered will have their individual pictures taken. Each class will have a group picture taken as well.
