A huge thank you goes out to our school counselor Mr. Nelson for setting up and organizing today’s vision screenings for students. Thanks to the incredible support of Vision Is Priceless, students who qualified were able to receive screenings, and more than 25 students were provided glasses!
We are so grateful for the dedication of both our counselor and the Vision Is Priceless team in ensuring our Mustangs can see clearly and continue to learn with confidence. Your commitment to our students and community is truly appreciated! 💙🐴👓

Ms. Westphal not only delivers engaging and high-quality art instruction to our students every day, but she also serves as a mentor and model for other art educators across the district. Her classroom is recognized as a model art space, where she supports novice teachers in developing their craft and building strong, creative learning environments.
We are proud to have Ms. Westphal as part of our MUSTANG team and grateful that her dedication and talent are recognized beyond our school walls

From October 6 through October 21, our school, along with the District, will participate in the Data Triangle Survey. Parent Feedback Survey
This week, we are launching a parent survey to gather feedback on how we can best support our students and families. Last year as a result of the feedback we provided multiple data dive sessions to support parent understanding of where their students were in their learning and how they could provide additional support at home. We plan to continue that effort this school year with parents data days. Please take a moment to complete the survey using the QR code on the flyer that will be sent home. Your voice matters, and we value your input! We love partnering with our community for ideas on ways we can continue to improve as we strive for excellence daily.
Have a wonderful Sunday, and we look forward to seeing our Mustangs back tomorrow!
With Mustang P.R.I.D.E.,

This is Principal Doyle with a quick follow-up to my last communication. Police have determined that the threat prompting this morning’s lockdown was allegedly made by a student at the middle school. I want to assure you that they are in direct contact with that student and their family, and appropriate consequences will follow their continued investigation. I am grateful that our students and staff remained safe throughout today, and I truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and trust in us as we worked with law enforcement to ensure everyone’s safety.
Have a safe and good evening.
Each month, our school practices safety protocols to ensure we are prepared in the event of a true emergency. These procedures are designed to help us respond swiftly and effectively, prioritizing the safety of every student and staff member.
Earlier this morning, we received a threatening phone call that prompted us to initiate a lock-in protocol. This means that while instruction continued inside the building, movement was limited, and no one was allowed to enter or exit the campus. Law enforcement was immediately contacted and arrived on site to conduct a full sweep of the school.
We are incredibly proud of our students, faculty, and families. Everyone remained calm, followed directions, and helped maintain a safe and orderly environment while we awaited the all-clear from law enforcement.
Out of an abundance of caution, we will remain in a lock-in status for the remainder of the day. Dismissal will proceed as normal. As always, please be prepared to show your ID and wait for approval when entering the building.
With every safety event, there is an opportunity to learn and improve. If you have not already done so, please download the DCPS app and link your student to your account in FOCUS. These platforms are how the district shares important updates and emergency communications.
Thank you for your continued support and for doing your part to help keep our campus safe
Out of an abundance of caution, our school has been placed on a lockout following a called-in threat earlier today. Please rest assured that all students and staff are safe. We are working closely with law enforcement as they investigate, and we are taking every measure to ensure the continued safety of everyone on campus.
We will share an update as soon as more information becomes available or once the lockout is lifted.
Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our school community.
Principal Doyle
