CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Each day will be filled with fun, themed activities that encourage our students to read, dream, explore, and imagine the future—one chapter at a time.
From spirit days and buddy reading to our Vocabulary Parade and Masked Reader, this week is all about building a lifelong love for reading while honoring our past, present, and future.

The School Choice Application is now open and available in your parent Focus account. Families interested in applying for Fort Caroline Middle School of the Visual and Performing Arts should take the following steps:
1. Complete the Magnet Application
Log in to your parent Focus account and submit the Magnet Application for Fort Caroline.
2. Register for an Audition
Audition dates are January 6 and January 24. Please register early to secure your preferred date.
3. Be Aware of Upcoming Deadlines
The first audition deadline for 2D Art, Cinematic Arts, and Theatre is December 12.
Important: 50% of current requests are for 2D Art, so families with students interested in this program are strongly encouraged to register for the January 6th audition.
4. Prepare for the Audition

You’re invited to our Title I Science Night on December 11th from 3:30–5:15 PM! Join us for an exciting afternoon of hands-on science activities, demonstrations, and fun learning opportunities for the whole family.
Families will leave with tips and strategies to make science more engaging at home and at school. Plus, everyone will have a chance to win Science Take-Home Kits to continue the learning after the event!

As a friendly reminder over break:
K–2 students: Remember to read 20 minutes every night and continue practicing your sight words.
Grades 3–5 students: Read 20 minutes a night and keep working on mastering your multiplication facts—practice makes progress!
