Monday- January 27th
Theme: “Building our reading foundation brick by brick”
Activity: Student design a brick with how they are going to build their reading success
Tuesday- January 28th
Theme: “We have the tools to be successful readers”
Activity: Each classroom will create a anchor chart with the “tools” needed to be successful readers.
Wednesday- January 29th
Theme: “We are building our stamina to become better readers”
Activity: DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) for 15 minutes
Thursday- January 30th
Literacy Night
Book Fair visit with parents 6:00-7:00pm
Friday- January 31st
Theme: “We are constructing a schoolwide library”
Activity: Students design a Lego about their favorite book

Good Morning Parents,
The Hyde Park Wildcat Store has begun and we need your help! Every other Friday, students are allowed to come and shop in the Wildcat Store. We are asking for parents to donate items for students to purchase when they earn wildcat tickets (money).
Donations can be toys, chips, juices, candy, books, pens, pencils, erasers, pouches, stuffed animals, etc. Please keep in mind that we are a Nut-Free school so no items containing any kind of nuts are allowed.

At Hyde Park we know the crucial role parents and families play in their child's education.
We have a few activities planned for our Family Engagement Week: November 18-22
November 18- Pastries with Parents 9:00-10:00 cafeteria
November 19-Parents as Teachers Day- Sign up Required
November 20- Family Tree activity
November 21- Science Night @ 6-7
November 22- Parent Appreciation
Attached you will also find the Family Engagement Calendar in Spanish and English that provides activities to do at home with your child to foster engagement for the entire month of November.
All parents entering the building must be cleared through DCPS.

Red Ribbon Week! October 23rd-31st.
Students will learn how drugs can negatively affect lives and why it is important to stay drug free.
Hyde Park will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 28th-Nov. 1st. I have attached the corresponding days and themes.


Beginning in November, every Tuesday, Technology Services will be available to distribute free ECF laptops to any student enrolled in a traditional DCPS school. This includes students who have already been assigned a laptop from school. This will be a secondary device the students can keep at home for school use. See the details below!
WHAT: Free laptop for all DCPS students! No registration necessary!*
*Wait times may be shorter if ECF survey is completed in advance, but not necessary.
WHEN: Every Tuesday beginning November 5th*
*The week of December 16th will be on a Thursday- December 19th
