Feb. 1, 2026 – Team Duval is proud to highlight the many ways students and educators engage with and celebrate local Black history.
Through the district’s Black History Month webpage, families and community members can explore a range of initiatives that support meaningful learning year-round.
This includes the annual African American Summer Writing Institute, specialized Black history courses offered in middle and high schools, and the ongoing integration of Black history across curriculum.
These efforts are showcased in several feature videos and articles – produced by Team Duval News -- throughout the years, including:

The webpage also highlights influential local changemakers such as Johnnetta Cole, Bob Hayes, and James Weldon Johnson, reflecting the rich history captured in the district’s own African American Studies resource book.
