Dear LaVilla Families,
Are you interested in having your student play a sport during the 2025-2026 school year at another school?
As an arts magnet school, LaVilla does not have athletic teams. However, students are eligible to try out and play sports at other Duval County Public Schools by following the district process.
Here’s what you need to know:
• Most students try out for teams at their neighborhood (zoned) school.
• The first step is to complete the FHSAA EL-14 Student Choice Form link here:
https://fhsaa.com/documents/2020/8/10/el14_student_choice_2020_21.pdf
• Once completed, email the form to Mr. Hayes, Director for School Pathways, at hayese@duvalschools.org for processing.
You will receive information once the form is processed.
⚠️ Important Reminders:
• Start early to allow time for processing.
• Students must meet all eligibility requirements, have a sports physical, and successfully try out to join an athletic team.
• We encourage you to contact the athletic director or coach at the school where your student plans to try out for more details on tryout dates and expectations.
If you have questions, feel free to reach out. We wish your student the best in both arts and athletics!
Thank you,
LaVilla Administration

Please remember students must register for transportation each school year!
Visit your Parent Focus Account under Forms and complete the 2025-2026 Transportaion Form! Time is running out, so get it done by 7/15! As of now, we have 68% of our students registered! Nice work! Thanks!

LaVilla Family,
State Testing for the PM3 ELA/ Reading is tomorrow. All students will test and must have their laptop, fully charged. Bring the charger too... just in case.
Students should arrive by 8:15 am and report to their testing site. Please get plenty of rest, eat a hearty and healthy breakfast, and arrive on time with a stress-free morning. We only have a few loaner laptops that will be available. If a student doesn't bring their device, then the student may have to attend the makeup testing session on another day. Our students are amazing and have worked hard! We can't wait for them to show what they know! 🤩
Have a great evening!

Please note that Lavilla was on a lock out right before dismissal due to a suspect being pursued by JSO. The lockout lasted about one minute before the suspect was apprehended. The goal was to make sure students weren't released during JSO actively looking for the suspect. All is well and we dismissed as normal.

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF LAVILLA – LaVilla School of the Arts is 25 years old! In honor of the quarter-century milestone, the dance department recently welcomed school alum Joseph Markey, a corps de ballet member with the American Ballet Theater. During his visit, Markey taught classes and participated in a photoshoot with students. Dance Department Director Michelle Ottley-Fisher says Markey is one of many alumni who have been invited to participate in the 25th anniversary celebrations by sharing through master classes, lectures, choreography, and performances.

Parents & Guardians,
This week, March 3rd- 7th, students in Civics, Biology I, 8th grade Science, Algebra I, & Geometry will be taking the district assessment during class. This data is important and used by teachers to plan for the State End of Course Test Preparation. Please make sure your student is on time and testing ready. All makeup sessions will be held on 3/10& 3/11.
