They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Their commitment to growing their own “superpowers” directly fuels student success across Team Duval. CELEBRATING TWO SCHOOL COUNSELORS: This shoutout comes in honor of National School Counseling Week, recognizing two outstanding school counselors at Matthew Gilbert Middle School: Albert Buckner and Ke’Yondra Merritt. School social worker Khrystal Whitlock says, “Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to help make them easy to talk to and a pleasure to work with. Thanks to their continued support and proactive efforts, we’ve seen a positive impact on student engagement and a decrease in attendance issues. Their commitment does not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for all that they do.” Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Buckner and Ms. Merritt!

Want free dental services for your student? The free dental van will be at Matthew Gilbert Middle School on January 20th and 21st. All students received a dental form that needs to be signed by you and turned back in. If your student needs a form, have them request one from the front office.
Sweethearts Dance tickets go on sale January 12th. The dance will be on February 13th. Tickets are $5.00 CASH only. You must wear pink and red to the dance.
