CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Their commitment to growing their own “superpowers” directly fuels student success across Team Duval. Join us in thanking our outstanding school counselors for the lasting difference they make in our schools and community!

I want to take a moment to both celebrate and speak honestly with our school community.
Over the past three years, our PTA has done incredible work to support Sabal Palm Elementary. From organizing events, to supporting our teachers and students behind the scenes, to helping create meaningful experiences for our school community, their impact has been felt by all of us.
At the heart of that work are three individuals who have carried the majority of the responsibility: Mrs. Mertz, Mrs. McFadden, and Mrs. Iselin. Their dedication, time, and heart for our school have not gone unnoticed. We are incredibly grateful for everything they have poured into Team Sabal.
However, the reality is this, it is not sustainable.
Our PTA has been spread very thin, with the same small group carrying the weight year after year. Despite efforts to increase involvement, including adding grade-level performances to PTA meetings this year to bring more families into the fold, we have not seen the level of engagement needed to continue.
If we continue on this path, there is a very real possibility that Sabal Palm will not have a PTA next school year.
We cannot let that happen.
Our PTA plays a critical role in building school culture, supporting staff, and creating opportunities for our students. But it takes a team, not just a few.
We are asking for your help.
Whether you are a parent, guardian, or staff member, there is a place for you. Getting involved does not mean you have to take on everything. It means showing up, lending a hand, and being part of something that directly impacts our students and school community.
If you have ever enjoyed a PTA event, appreciated support provided to classrooms, or simply want to make a difference, now is the time to step in.
Please reach out if you are willing to serve, support, or learn more about how you can get involved. We need you.
Let’s be All In, All Year, for our students and for each other.
With appreciation and urgency,
Principal Felts
