Great evening TLAM family!
This is Principal Williams. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. For the parents who attended our virtual Parent 101: Adaptive Testing and Its Impact last Thursday, thank you for the rich conversation. I hope you found the information valuable. As promised, the links for the practice test and video are below and the tutoring schedule is attached. Don’t forget to save the date for our Data and Dine Night on Thursday, April 17th at 5:30pm. Our annual Innovation STEM Day powered by CSX was a success. Two of our CTE students received a brand, new Dell laptop as giveaways and CSX donated a mini robotic dog to use in our STEM lab. This week, the 2025 BEST Writing assessment will be administered to 6th and 7th graders on Wednesday, April 2nd and 8th graders will be assessed on Thursday, April 3rd. This year, the writing section will not be a part of the overall score for Reading. Please make sure your child is at school on these assigned dates. If you are ready to order your 2025 Twin Lakes Yearbook, please reach out to Ms. Murray at murrayj@duvalschools.org. today.
Parents, please make sure your child is working on their diagnostic path on Exact Path Reading or math at least thirty minutes to improve their reading and math skills per night. To ensure students reach their weekly Exact Path goal, students can work on Exact Path every morning from 8:00am to 9:05 am and from 4:30pm to 5:30pm with Ms. Groover in the AM and Ms. Bolden in the PM. Parents, please make sure you are on time to pick your child up if your child attends the PM option. It is imperative that your child attend these opportunities to include tutoring in preparation for PM3 in the spring.
As we transition to the second week of the fourth nine weeks, students are expected to come to school daily with their school planner, student ID, and a clear or mesh backpack. Please review the attachment to help you to plan accordingly for this week’s activities. This is a great time for you to update any information on your child’s blue card or FOCUS. We are discovering that many parents need to update their information in FOCUS. Please understand if there is an emergency with your child the information in FOCUS must be accurate for us to inform you. If you have any questions regarding athletics, please email AD Larry Edwards at edwardsl2@duvalschools.org or Dean Story at storyg@duvalschools.org. Please know every time your child requests a new ID regardless if is a temporary or permanent ID that there is a cost associated with the ID replacement. Some students have racked a lot of debt due to their inability to keep up with their assigned student ID. Please make sure your child has their student ID daily. If you have any questions regarding your child’s debt, please email AP Copeland at copelandd@duvalschools.org. Please join our great body of parents, teachers, and students as we work together in Building our A+ Pack Mentality at our next PTSA/SAC meeting on Monday, April 7th at 5:30pm in the media center. A virtual link will be provided at a later time. We look forward to having you as part of our team. Have a PACKful week!

Greetings TLAM family!
This is Principal Williams. I hope you have been enjoying your spring break. Just a gentle reminder, there is no school tomorrow for students. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 25th at their normal scheduled time and it will be an A Day. For 8th grade parents only, we still have seats available for the 8th Grade Gradventure. Mrs. Bryan will be collecting funds until Friday, March 28th. If you are experiencing extenuating circumstances, please reach out to me or Ms. Bryan at bryanm@duvalschools.org. This week, we will reconnect with our business partner, CSX, for the second Annual Innovation STEM Day powered by CSX on Friday, March 28th. We have decided to push our Data and Dine Night to April 17th to allow for an opportunity to discuss the impact adaptive testing (FAST/EOC) will play on scheduling and program progression for the 2025-2026 school year. Please plan to join us for Parent 101: Adaptive Testing and its Impact on Thursday, March 27th via Teams at 5:30pm. This parent focused event is designed for a fruitful discussion around FAST/EOC testing (adaptive) and to answer questions around its impact on scheduling and program progression for the 2025-2026 school year. A flyer with the virtual link will be provided in a separate communication. If you are ready to order your 2025 Twin Lakes Yearbook, please reach out to Ms. Murray at murrayj@duvalschools.org. today.

2025 Yearbook flyer Twin Lakes Week of February 3rd Activities

"Before Christmas, we unveiled the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) to our students in their lunch. We spoke with students, detailing the purpose of this program, our new bullying rules, and examples of bullying. We are working to take more preventative actions and to change the culture of bullying.
Florida Statute 1006.147, also known as The Jeffrey Johnston Stand Up for All Students Act defines bullying as, “Systematically and chronically inflicting physical hurt or psychological distress on one or more students or employees that is severe or pervasive enough to create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment; or unreasonably interfere with the individual’s school performance or participation”.
Our rules are as follows:
• We will NOT bully others.
• We will try to help students who are bullied.
• We will try to include students who are left out.
• If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school AND an adult at home.
If your child reports bullying, feel free to reach out to us on our school number (904) 538-0825 and ask for a member of staff that can help. You may also contact us on FOCUS and our DCPS website.
We hope that you continue to encourage your students to communicate when bullying is taking place. Thank you and we welcome your support in our efforts. Communication is the key to success, and we need your help to achieve our goal of a comfortable and non-threatening learning environment."
