I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
This Wednesday is an early dismissal day and students will be dismissed at 1:15 PM.
As we are continuing with our end of year state testing, we ask for your assistance in making sure your child is prepared to do their best by making sure they are getting proper rest each night. They have been working hard all year and we are very excited to see the amazing academic gains they have made!
As our students in grades K-2 are completing their end of the year state assessments, we are moving right into the testing window for our 3rd – 5th grade students.
Third grade students will be completing their FAST reading assessment this Friday, May 2nd.
4th and 5th grade will be taking their FAST reading assessment next week on Tuesday, May 6th and 3rd grade will have their FAST mathematics assessment on Wednesday, May 7th.

Hello MAJ Families!
I hope you have been enjoying the long weekend and beautiful weather!
Our students in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade will continue with their Spring State Assessments in reading and math this week. You can assist by making sure your child is getting a good night’s rest and comes to school for the full day each day. Students who arrive late or are checked out early miss out on important instruction and learning time.
On Monday, April 21st, READ USA will be here with the free book fair and all students will have the opportunity to go and select 2 free books!
This Friday, April 25th, we will have our Career Day. This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about a large variety of careers and opportunities and is always a fun day.
Looking ahead, our final early dismissal for the year will be next week (April 30th) and our third grade students will be completing their FAST reading assessment on Friday, May 2nd.

We have a short week ahead of us as there is no school this Friday. Our 5th grade students will be taking their end of Course Assessments for Art, Music and PE this week and students in kindergarten – 2nd grade will begin working on their end of year state STAR Assessments on Thursday.
Our final School Advisory Council meeting for this school year will be next week Monday, April 14th at 4:45 PM in the media center. SAC meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend and are a great way to learn more about what is happening in our school, as well as to share your ideas and feedback.

The driver for Bus 256 will run her regular route and return to the school to pick up route 108. Students who ride route 108 will be leaving the school late. If you prefer to switch your child to a car rider, please change their dismissal in PikMyKid.

It was wonderful seeing many of you at the Drama Club Production this past Friday night. The students did an amazing job! Thank you to Ms. Nobles and Ms. Jaeger for providing this amazing opportunity for our students!
We have a full week of learning this week. As we move into warmer weather, just a couple reminders regarding dress code. Halter-tops, backless tops, or tops that show midriff are prohibited. See-through or mesh garments shall not be worn without appropriate undergarments. Shorts or skirts must come to at least mid-thigh (Arms naturally at sides – make a fist – bottoms should not be shorter than the bottom of the fist.) Elementary students’ shoes must have a closed heel or back strap. Students will need to wear appropriate athletic shoes for PE as they are working on their bicycle safety unit.

Bus #256 will run its route, then pick up Bus #108 students. This will continue until further notice. Alternate options: car rider line (2:50–3:10 PM, note in PikMyKid) or extended day (pickup till 6 PM, enroll via DCPS website). Thank you for your flexibility during this time!

First, a huge thank you to all who sent in #2 plastics! The NEHS collected, counted and sorted 500 bags, 4830 caps, and 1080 containers for a grand total of 6410 pieces of plastic, exceeding their goal of 2000 pieces!! The buddy benches are being ordered and we will post updates when they are ready for installation.
We are heading into April and the last 2 months of the school year! 3rd quarter student report cards will be published and available in your parent account tomorrow, March 31st.
We are also heading into end of the year state testing. Information about your child’s assessment dates is being shared through Classrooms. Our 4th and 5th grade students will be completing their state writing assessment this Wednesday, April 2nd.
This Friday, April 4th, our Drama club will be presenting their production of Alice in Wonderland. The doors will open at 6:00 pm with the show starting at 6:30. There is no cost, but donations will be accepted at the door. Your donations are greatly appreciated and help to keep this program going!

Report Cards for the 3rd Marking Period will be posted in your parent account next week Monday (3/31).
This Wednesday (3/26) will be an Early Dismissal Day and students will be dismissed at 1:15.
This week Tuesday (3/25) is last day to bring in #2 plastic items for the class competition! We currently have 1035 pieces collected toward our goal of 2000 pieces!

Just a reminder, this week is Spring Break and there is no school. Monday, March 24th is a teacher planning day, and students will return to school on Tuesday, March 25th. Also, Wednesday, March 26th is an Early Dismissal Day.
Keep collecting those #2 plastic items! Our current schoolwide count is 1035 toward our goal of 2000 pieces to get two “Buddy Benches” for our school! The last day to bring in items for the class competition is March 25th. There is currently a close race in grades 3 – 5 with Ms. Patton’s homeroom in 1st, Ms. Coumbe’s homeroom in second and Ms. Raymer’s Homeroom in 3rd. In the PK – 2 race, Ms. Macedo’s class is in 1st, Ms. McCauley’s class is in 2nd and Ms. Sharp’s class is in 3rd.
